After an hectic 2025, where we did a labtest in the spring, we managed to also plan, design, procure and deploy a new test pilot outside Måløy january 9th 2026. Ocean One, and is a scaled version, 1:4 of a future full scale prototype.

This pilot is not producing electricity. It has no harmful chemical onboards are completely safe for the environment. A small windturbine onboard is generating enough power to keep the many instruments onboard going.

The pilot will be in the sea between January and March 2026, testing the anchoring system and the reaction system (to TRL5), collecting data crucial to succeed with turbine manufacturing and PTO which is main focus after this campaign has landed.

The same unit will be deployed again in 2027, when we are doing a full TRL6 test: Testing a complete system, in the intended environment, over time. A successful TRL6 test is a pre-requisite for further investments in a full-scale pilot.

While this pilot is only 10 meters deep, the full-scale will be 40 meters deep. The pilot was produced at Easyform in Måløy, instrumentation installed by Stadt Towing Tank, installation performed by Abyss, and the campaign filmed by Frequency. In other words including many local businesses in Måløy.

We are grateful for the financial support from Innovation Norway to demonstrate the technology.
