The European Commission has underlined the strategic role ofmarine renewables in Europe’s energy future, stating that “under the rightconditions, ocean energy could contribute around 10 % of the EU’s power demandby 2050.” With growing pressure to accelerate the green transition,Europe’s seas are emerging as a vast, largely untapped source of clean power.
Waves are present everywhere — day and night, when the sun doesn’tshine and the wind slows down. The ocean contains 32,000 TWh per year ofuntapped wave-energy resources — more than today’s total global electricityconsumption (30,856 TWh). Harnessing even a fraction of this potential wouldtransform Europe’s energy mix, strengthen energy independence, and createhigh-value industrial jobs.
According to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA),global installed capacity of wave and tidal energy could reach 337 GW by 2050,making the ocean-energy market almost equal in size to Europe’s offshore-windsector.
Havkraft cancontribute to this transformation through its advanced wave-energy technology.Havkraft’s wave energy device converts the natural, clean, and constant motionof the sea into sustainable electricity — powering Europe’s path toward aresilient, net-zero future
