Havkraft is developing a floating wave power plant that can significantly reduce CAPEX in the development of small oil and gas discoveries. As fewer large discoveries are made, small fields have received increased attention. But they are often too small and too remote to justify investments in traditional infrastructure such as power and communication cables, production facilities and pipelines.
Havkraft’s PetroPower is a mobile and reusable wave power plant that produces clean energy above the oil and gas discovery. It delivers both electricity and communication directly to subsea installations. The solution also contains back up power storage for calm days, and chemical mixtures for the wells and reservoir. With the possibility of reusing the plant at different fields, the technology provides a significant reduction in investment costs – and a significantly greener climate account.
