Job description

Do you want to be part of a company shaping the future of clean energy from the ocean?

We’re a pioneering wave power designer entering a new and exciting phase — qualifying breakthrough technology and developing concepts for forward-thinking clients. We’re now looking for a Naval Architect to join our small but ambitious team and help us bring our next-generation floating energy devices to life.

About the Role:

As our Naval Architect, you’ll take the lead on the construction and design of floating structures. Your core focus will be on ensuring structural integrity, performance, and manufacturability of innovative marine energy devices. But there's more — we’re a young company with big goals and limited resources, so we’re looking for someone who thrives on variety and responsibility. You should be ready to:

  • Tackle tasks beyond your traditional role when needed
  • Learn and adapt quickly to new tools, methods, and challenges
  • Take initiative and ownership in pushing the company’s developments forward

Who you are

  • A degree-qualified Naval Architect or equivalent experience in marine engineering
  • Experienced (or highly motivated to learn) in the design of marine structures
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, hands-on startup environment
  • Passionate about renewable energy and the ocean’s potential
  • A proactive problem-solver who enjoys taking the lead when needed

Experience with wave energy, offshore structures, hydrodynamics, or composite materials is a big plus — but not required if you’re eager to learn.

What we offer:

  • A front-row seat in the development of groundbreaking marine renewable energy
  • The chance to shape your own role and grow with the company
  • A collaborative, flexible, and forward-thinking work culture
  • Real impact — your work will directly influence the future of clean energy

Core Qualifications (Education & Certification)

  1. Degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering
    • Experience can compensate for a degree
  2. Experience in
    • Stability and hydrostatics
    • Structural analysis (finite element methods)
    • CAD modelling
    • CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics)
    • Offshore/marine safety standards (IMO, SOLAS, DNV, ABS, etc.)

 Technical Skills

  1. CAD & Design Tools
    • AutoCAD or similar
  2. Simulation & Analysis Software
    • ANSYS, OrcaFlex
    • MATLAB, Python, Excel VBA for calculations or automation
  3. Project Experience
    • Experience in concept and detailed design phases is a prerequisite
    • Familiarity with ship systems (propulsion, ballast, HVAC, etc.)
    • Exposure to shipyard practices and construction phases is a benefit

Soft Skills

  • Strong team collaboration and cross-discipline communication.
  • Problem-solving mindset—especially important in design and troubleshooting.
  • Project management exposure or potential (budgets, deadlines, coordination).
